Cell passage number and RNAi efficacy

Has anyone experienced a loss in RNAi reproducibility with increased cell number passages? I've observed in Drosophila S2 cells that after 40 or so passes RNAi experiments get sketchy.

Excessive passage numbers can reduce the effiency of transfection. I think the exact number of passages before this occurs would depend on the cell line, culture system, RNAi system and reagents used, etc.
