What can I do with these two genes

Hi all:

I have planned to do some transgenic work to increase the salt tolerance of Rice.
However, I am afraid time is not enough now.
I have two putative salt tolerance-increase gene at hand, they are small GTPase and related to membrane trafficking.

What else can I do besides transgenic thing?
I hope that the experiment can be finished before Feb. 2006 in order to get my master¡¯s degree.

Any suggestion?. I really need your help
