    Strange DNA contamination

    Hi,

I have had a mysterious DNA contamination again and again after plasmid transformation to DH5alpha E.coli cells.

I have checked that the contamination isn't in ligation, transformation, DNA purification or restriction reagents, component cells, loading buffer or water. But from time to time strange ~2500 bp and ~4000 bp bands appear in gel electrophoresis after analytical RE digestion. The sizes are the same regardless of RE I use, brightness of the bands varies.

Do you have any ideas what causes this and how can I get rid of it?

    Thanks!
