    silver staining troubleshooting

Can anyone please tell me why sometimes the silver staining of a SSCP gel gets inverted? What I mean is: the DNA bands stain white and the remaining is brown. This happens either with fresly made solutions or with already used solutions witch stained properly. Any hint is needed.
    Thank You
    Ana

Ana, It sounds like you loaded too much protein. Lower your loading as silver staining gives as low as few ng sensitivity.
