site directed mutagenesis

I am using the stragene kit. after performing the site directed mutagenesis i did pcr clean up and transformed the pcr product into the cell. but did not get any colonies. so i just kept a mixture of dna and watar under the same conditions in thermal cycler even then it did not transform. but the same dna- water compostion which was not subject to this temperture cycling did transform n give colonies. I possibly cant figure out where the error is.
