    pyruvate in cell culture medium and non essential AA

    Hi,

    1-Why do some medium have pyruvate and other don't? what 's the function of it on what cell type?
    Also is there any difference between using Na-butyrate or Na-pyruvate?
    2- When is it ESSENTIAL to add non essential amino acids?
