It is grossly unfair for the US Patent Office to give away years of work on patenting a device, just because the developer cannot pay patent maintainance fees. Most individuals like myself, who struggled to purchase research equipment and parts to work on obtaining a patent, never make a dime after the patent. Why then is our intellectual property being given away for free? The USPTO should not charge people who work so hard.
