Overcoming the codon bias of E.coli for enhanced protein expression

Overcoming the codon bias of E.coli for enhanced protein expression

A tech note article (PDF file) discussing codon usage optimization using E.coli plasmid expression system from Novagen Inc. (written by Robert Novy, Don Drott, Keith Yaeger and Robert Mierendorf)

Most amino acids are encoded by more than one codon, and each organism carriesits own bias in the usage of the 61 available amino acid codons. In each cell, the tRNA population closely reflects the codon bias of the mRNA population.

This entry is to replace "Enhance protein production in E. coli using a single-step PCR gene synthesis to optimize codon usage written by Michael I. Riley, University of Missouri". The link is no longer valid.
