We have a DNA sequencer ABI 373A. The instrument shows this error on the display "electrophoresis failure". How can I repair this error?

What we are attempting is mutation screening for a particular human gene. The gene sequence is known. Primers have been used to amplify a region of this gene. Subsequently primers homologous to the sequence in this region have been designed and used for sequencing. However there is complete sequencing failure. Please help solve the problem. The region is known to have secondary structure and we are using BigDye terminator chemistry.
