Southern analysis with genomic fragment

Southern analysis with genomic fragment (archive)

I have to use a large fragment of DNA from a gen clone as a probe for a
Southern blot. I know it contain some repititive elementss. Is there a
protocol for pre-annealing the labelled DNA fragemn to block the repeatst
prior to hybridisation? Many thanks in advance

Assuming your genomic fragment is human, try checking this Cot-1
competetive hyb info from Gibco BRL:

It should work with mouse Cot-1 and genomic DNA, too
