Biochemistry and molecular biology commonly used buffer, media, solution and reagent
Molar calculation (M): Moles per liter of solution. It refers to the number of grams equal to its molecular weight. e.g. 1M NaCl solution contains 58.456 grams of NaCl in 1 liter water as the MW of NaCl is 58.456g/mole.Percent solution (%): Weight (W) and volume (V) percent concentration. For W/V percent concentration it means grams (weight) in 100 ml (volume) solution. For V/V percent concentration it means ml (volume) in 100 ml (volume) solution.
"X" (fold) solution: refers to the X folds concentrated solution. e.g. 10X PBS needs to be diluted 10 times to be used as working solution (1x).
