| As a paramedic student taking an intro pharmacology course on the side, I found this text to be quite applicable. The overview of conditions prior to the explaination of current drug therapy provides a suffient reference for the reader to understand the basics of why certain pharmacological therapies are used. In addition, the CD animations provide a useful graphical description of specific drug mechanisms. I found this book to be a great overview and introduction to the subject. |

| I wish I had this book in medical school. Any medical student will tell you that pharmacology is not a difficult subject per se, but is overwhelmingly crammed with mountains of medications, receptor profiles, side effects, pharamcokinetic and dynamic information, drug classes, and so much more that it overwhelms me just to think about it!

This book is designed in the way your brain works as it learns this kind of material. It is organized in a way that creates a template in your head and lays out the material in such a way that you can recall the page and read off the information when you come across the arcane and detailed minutia on your exam.

I did well in the course but when I look back at the notes I made they're in the same format as the book, and buying the book will save you countless hours which you can put to good use learning the information in this book. Diagrams, charts, tables abound, as does the core of the subject itself.

I still use this book today to refer to as an attending when teaching medical students the fundamentals of pharmacology and they couldn't be happier!

Don't miss this book! Truly! |

| My teacher for this class was really confusing, so when I went back home I read the book and...voila!!! Everything was understood right away. It's a great help for students...and teachers!!!
Very detailed and to the point, sure beats hauling around the CPS!
My only complaint is that this is very obviously an American printed book, so if you're living in Canada or Europe, know now that some of the names are different and some of the drugs approved there but not yet approved in the USA will not be included (like Spiriva and Symbicort.)
This text is well constructed to be user friendly and simplistic in terms. The foundations in respiratory care are drugs and the effects of their use, primarily the use of bronchodilators. This text was well rounded for the beginner, but also went into the realms of cellular biology, general physiology, along with biochemistry. The understanding of basic chemistry is essential for productive readers. The overall structure and concepts of this book are defined and analyzed in appropriate order and in great detail. The overall concepts are conveyed and specific in description, this text is an excellent addition to the the multi-skilled RRT or the beginner CRTT. -MJW |

| This is a great companion for an excellent textbook.
The cases are appealing and written really interesting manner, highlighting the most important concepts presented in "Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy".
By adding a smart dose of clinical medicine to pharmacology, the workbook helps to bridge the traditional gap between basic science and clinical medicine.
Students will find this book a valuable resource for turning a tough subject into something really enjoyable. Lecturers will also value it as an excellent teaching tool. In fact, I would say it's a must have for any pharmacology instructor.
Congratulations to Drs Golan and Farrell!
This review is simply a copy of my evaluation of the main book, "Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy", 2e by D. Golan et al.

The second edition is usually better than the first one, and the first one was simply excellent! A great book -I mean, the book mentioned above-, with a problem-based learning approach in mind, updated and with many new and important chapters (Protein Therapies, Drug Delivery Advances, Pharmacogenetics, among others). The good thing with this book is that any chapter deals with the necessary coverage of anatomy, physiology, pathology and so on before coming to the drugs facts. With the early med student in mind, the book will be useful for any health related career. The book is clear, is concise -notwithstanding comprehensive-, and with a complete set of drug facts tables at the end of most chapters. Simply said, the kind of book I'd liked to write myself.

One more thing: The book is brilliantly complemented by its companion book, "Principles of Pharmacology Workbook" -the book reviewed here-, by S. Farrell, a great account of more than 100 clinical cases regarding each chapter of the main book, with no less than five questions -and their corresponding answers- for every one of the cases. The ideal complement to make this couple of books the best pharmacology books in the scene today. I work very actively with both of them in teaching my own pharmacology courses. |

| I first used this book in my undergraduate nursing program. It was of great assistance in learning at that time, and I recently purchased this edition to be able to refresh my memory on the ways medications work that I don't commonly prescribe, now that I am a Nurse Practitioner. It is also a great resource to use when explaining pharmacology to co-workers and even patients.
All you need to know about pharmacology in this clear and concise book. Excellent!
Every piece of information "Medical Pharmacology at a Glance" gives you is vital. It figures out the big problems most students face when studying pharmacology:
Which of this huge amount of data is really important? Which concepts I must never forget?.
The book is very concise, but believe it or not, at the same time is much more understandable than many other extense texts.Besides, diagrams definitely allow you to get a much more integrated view of every topic.
What is more, this text is great for reviewing the subject, it's amazing how many essential drugs it covers. |

| I found it is the wonderful textbook for all nursing student and nurses to learn the pharmacology. The material for learn is design by way from simple to complex, with many NCLEX-RN style examination questions after each chapter. Plus the material about physiology and mechanism of action is very easy and interestedly to learn. I enjoy from this book. |

| This book by far is the BEST pharm book out there for medical students. The book is easy to read and helps reinforce important concepts with ALOT of graphs and cartoons. I have this book, Katzung's Board&Review Pharm, and Lippincott's Pharm, and I feel like this book is the best for course work. It's overkill for board study, so I'll be using Katzung for that. Lippincott's is by far the worst, as there are TONS of mistakes in the book. So if you are a medical student looking for a great book for your pharmacology COURSE (again, not for board study), you cannot go wrong with this book.
Fast and easy transaction. Nothing went wrong- no reason to not give a perfect rating. (Even the material in the book is very helpful and easy to understand.)
I found this book particularly useful for the clinical practioner. Just to make it clearer I am one of the translators working on the brazilian version. I received only the chapters I translated, but I liked the text so much that I purchased the original just not to have to wait for the brazilian publication. |

| This is an excellent book on the subject of pharmacology. The only thing that irks me is that the answers to the review problems and questions are not in the back of the book. There is a website where one can go to get the answers, but I find this to be too time consuming.
Jane Rice has outdone herself once again. This book has everything there is to know about Pharmacology for Medical assisting. It's not only easy to understand but is also very informative. After I read it I got a 94 on my Pharmacology test, and now I'm a certified pharmacist thanks to this astonishing book. If you are thinking becoming a medical assistant or a pharmacologist this is a book I'd definitely recommend. Buy this and you'll be glad you did, I guarantee it. |
