| The Teacher Quality Index: A Protocol For Teacher Selection by James H. Stronge (Heritage Professor in the Education Policy, Planning, and Leadership Area at the College of William and Mary in Williams Burg, Virginia) and education consultant Jennifer L. Hindman is an informed and informative introduction to the process of selecting a classroom teacher who will understand, relate to, and educate their students. With its focus on hiring methodology and interviewing protocols using the "Teacher Quality Index" as the easiest, most reliable and informative way to achieve the standards of the interviewing school, The Teacher Quality Index is very strongly recommended reading, especially for district superintendents, elementary and high school building administrators, and faculty members involved in the hiring process for acquiring the services of new teachers.

| Based on this book I wrote my own version of web server in C.
<br />
<br />The book gives great insight into the mechanisms on which the Web works and is a valuable tool for anyone trying to do web traffic management or a small embedded web server. Plus nothing is more 1337 than to telnet into a port 80 and surf with self written HTTP headers
This is a nearly perfect book both for learning HTTP and for an HTTP reference. HTTP is a small, simple protocol, and this is reflected in this book's small size. Great sequence diagrams illustrate the basic HTTP transaction which is detailed in less than ten small pages. And you will probably soon find yourself with several post-it bookmarks or dog-eared pages.<p>The book could use an explanation of HTTP proxies and gateways and a list of common user-agents. But any more and it would be too long.
If you develop your own web applications then this book is invaluable! You don't realise that you need it until you know what's in it. An overview of HTTP headers, client methods and server response codes along with URL character and media type tables makes for a great pocket reference!<p>The O'Reilly pocket references are so concise that they are not really meant for someone who is totally new to the subject. They can however be the ideal way to provide an overview to anyone who wants to know the basics of the topic. |

| I've been writing Windows-based mutlimedia applications since Windows 95 was released. I've been looking for a good book to help the crossover to web application development, and I found that this was just the ticket. Explanations were solid and presented in a way that made experimentation easy (both from the browser and server side). Quite simply, this book served as a great jumping off point for deeper exploration into session management, security, web services (both SOAP and Rest), etc. Definitely a great introduction for folks with a software engineering background.
I always thought Amazon search is good but I stumbled upon this book at a store. It's a useful summary, but not a reference. I particularly like the examples and the way they build up from trivial to complex. The level of detail is right. Altogether, very refreshing.
This book is an ideal text for providing intermediate-level web developers with a solid grounding in architectural principles and more advanced techniques. Before going into why I like this book I do want to offer one caveat - the authors' approach is towards the Model-View-Controller paradigm, and is based on Java Standard Tag Library, Jarkata struts and Apache. These are solid elements, but if you are working in a different environment you will not appreciate this book as much.<p>The historical material in this book is not fluff if you approach it with the intent to gain a fuller understanding of the major components of the Internet and web. This material is rich with details about why the core web technologies developed and evolved, including design choices the pioneers made in the face of constraints. In a subtle way this part of the book is a primer on design and architecture.<p>What makes this book so valuable is the non-trivial application that brings this book alive. This is a refreshing change from other books that use thinly contrived snippets of code or trivial applications. The code for this application can be downloaded from the book's supporting web site, which also contains errata (thus far there are only two entries), and articles that are valuable resources with or without this book.<p>Overall this is one of the better books on web application design and development, and one that dives into code and technical details. |

| This is so totally readable and comprehensive in its scope, that it was an absolute delight. This one is a keeper and a re-read if you need to understand what the word "web" or "data" means.
Protocol and practice.... unlike 21 days in HTML, the authors teach me something big...
...but it is very thorough. |

| PROTOCOL MATTERS IS NOT ONLY HELPFUL BUT A GREAT READ. I WISH I HAD READ IT AS A YOUNG MOTHER AS A TEACHING TOOL FOR MY OWN CHILDREN. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL FOR THEM IN NAVIGATING AROUND "LIFE", IN A GRACIOUS AND APPROPRIATE MANNER. JUST KNOWING WHAT TO DO, AND HOW TO RESPOND IN ALL KINDS OF SITUATIONS IS BENEFICIAL--
<br /> TEACHING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS WAS MY FAVORITE PART--THIS IS MUCH MORE THAN A "WHICH FORK" MANUAL--THO THOSE DETAILS ARE COVERED TOO! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |

| This guide fills in and provides all the extra little details to successfully and safely complete the hCG protocol. I lost 45 lbs during my first cycle and ready to begin my second cycle!!! The compliments I have received on the weight loss have been unbelievable.

| The condensed protocols version of Molecular Cloning is well written, concise and adequately referenced. Protocols are easy to follow and provide options depending upon individual experimental needs and preference.
<br />
<br />The protocols provide information from home made recipes to prepared reagents available commercially.
<br />
<br />The protocols work in my hands.
<br />
<br />The book is large and not easily used on bench top. Otherwise it is a good resource for the laboratory. |

| This book about GSM is a very clearly written and yet concisely written. Its true that this book of such a small size cannot substitute for reading the standards. However for the purposes of getting a system point of view ,understanding the Access side protocol stack this book is very good.
<br />
<br />Especially the chapter on Physical Layer is so concise and yet covers almost everything you might want to know about Physical Layer.
<br />
<br />Highly recommended.
I bought this book to enable me to "Hit the ground running" when starting a new assignment. Thanks to this book, I can beat Carl Lewis!!!<p>This text is very readable, and in my oppinion is the definitive introduction to GSM. |
