| This book is not all encompassing however it does bring back into mind high yield facts that you should know. I would recommend using this book in conjuction with the First Aid
Just be careful when you go through this book, because there are quite a few typos. Usually it's nothing important, but once in a while it may confuse phase I and phase II, for example :). But again, it is not intended to be an ultimate resourse, so just be attentive not to confuse yourself.
<br />
<br />Otherwise, this is a truly terrific book, and I still give it 5 stars because I certainly prefer to have it now, with the typos, rather then wait till all the little things are cleared. It helps me to structurize my studies so much, that I really cannot imagine what I'd be doing without it.
<br />
<br />2Authors: Great job! Thank you very much!
Book is very helpful and should be bought early during med school. It will make sure that you know frequently tested topics. Also great along w/ first aid for board prep. There are a few mistakes as this is a 1st edition book, but the book is well worth $20. |

| i've been a big fan of step up series since the day i studied for step 1. so when comes to step 2 preparation, i have no doubt that this is one of the books that i decide to purchase off the local bookstore. i found out the information presented in this book is okay for broad knowledge and general understanding. when comes to specfic disease management, the book lists many tests under that disease and u have no idea what would be the best initial diagnostic step/or even best management for that particular disease. the book also contains numerous typos and careless mistakes that could be lethal had this book been your only primary study resource. overall, i strongly recommend this book to be used only when u have read blueprint series and decided to gain an overall perspective of what the common dzs are portrayed.

| I regret to say that this book is not the third edition. It is the second edition with a different cover and a different edition date. I reviewed the book page by page, and the only difference with the second edition is that the so called third edition has three more blank pages at the end of the book to take notes. This is a deception |

| Very good review but Not to be used as an the only review book, I used it with Crush, they are complementary. This book is very updated and to the point. I liked it. |

| It is a good book for preperation for step 3 exam
Well, I am not a candidate for USMLE, but I did enjoy reading this book as a good review for a doctor, for me it is more easy to learn new things in medicine with reading questions, this bood can be used with this idea with full satisfaction,
I want to buy this book for our professional career. I do not regret buying this book. In addition, Amazon has the best price and reliability in the nation regarding buying books. I always buy books from Amazon. Keep the good work. |

| I bought both NMS and QBook and ended up using QBook as my main study source, together with Crush. This turned out to be a smart move because it most closely approximated the questions in the Step 3. I thought NMS would be an even better study source, but found the questions either too obscure or not challenging enough. Step 3 is all about recognising buzzwords and associations, and Crush does this well while QBook gives you lots of practice with question length and complexity that is similar to the exam. For CCS I looked through First Aid, which was more helpful than Strong Medicine or Crush. In the end I did well, and that is all thanks to Crush and QBook.
Compared to the NMS Q/A book, I believe the Kaplan Qbook is the most similar to the format and content of Step 3. Sure, the questions are long and the book is heavy and thick, but the explanations are thorough. It also breaks up the question into subspecialties. With Crush Step 3, this will be an adequate review book for step 3.
I used this book as preparation for the USMLE step III and found that it covered the material in excessive detail, far more than what was reflected on the actual exam. It was so "specific" that I got lost in the minuitia. It requires you to know much more than is required, which hurt me in the end. The CCS portion and dermatology sections were not well represented. I did poorly on these portions of the exam and would recommend an additional text or interactive CD for those components of the exam. Take the CCS section very seriously, for it is a whopping 20% of your score which is very important!
<br />
<br />There are no pictures in this text, which makes it less optimal. I also used Swanson's Family practice book which was not any better, despite its raving reviews. The format was not at all reflective of that of the USMLE Step III. May your outcome be better than mine! Best wishes. |

| The book is small such that the author tries to cramp diagrams and tables several pages later after talking about... I get dizzy flipping the pages back and forth trying to learn what the author is trying to portray. If you want a headache when reading about murmurs or any other topic, then definitely buy this book! This is a POORLY ORGANIZED BOOK!
this book is great. it's the perfect quick review book to read right before your clerckship exams and in preparation for your step 2 exam.
I used this book a little prior to step 2's, but I put it in my regular cycle prior to step 3's, and I did really well. I probably read this book (or it's older sibling) 5 times through prior to step 3's in my downtime. It got me through. Good questions at the end of every section, reasonable pictures when they need it, and easy to follow tables. Overall, quick read, concise, gets you a good start to find the areas you need help in. This book can help you too. |

| Just finished taking step 2 & 3...I highly recommend NAIL THE BOARDS, The Ultimate Internal Medicine Review for USMLE STEPS 2 & 3 ... , it is concise and, most importantly, the information in the text is relevant to the actual exam. This book is the most current resource reflecting the new changes to USMLE step 2 and 3. The book is up to date and contains all the major topics needed for step 2 & 3. This book contains a lot of excellent contains and summaries that I could not find in any other review book. It seems to be a great companion while doing review questions. I also found this book to be an outstanding source when I prepared for work rounds to teach the interns and students. I can highly recommend this book to all residents. I wish I had it when I started my residency. Great Book!
I initially heard of this book from the 2nd & 3rd year residents in our program. A lot of them used it for their Step 3 and were successful and loved it. I was skeptical at first because this exam was important to me for a number of reasons. In any case, my experience was much the same as theirs, and I did extremely well, as with my predecessors, but I wanted to provide greater detail that I know will help you. I was pleasantly surprised, but at the same time totally relieved, when I sat for the exam because everything I'd studied here was right there on the exam. Specifically, I found the book was incredibly helpful in all of the following areas, which are the key areas required on the exam:
<br />
<br />** Associating current complaints with presented history and identifying pertinent factors.
<br />** Interpreting elicited history.
<br />** Interpreting mental status & identifying neuro exam findings
<br />** Interpreting specific physical findings as relates to differential diagnosis
<br />** Knowing appropriate directed physical examination & required technique.
<br />** Recognizing commonly associated pertinent history
<br />** Identifiying risk factors--especially oustanding
<br />** Recognizing signs & symptoms and physical findings
<br />
<br />I also found the book super useful for all the lab stuff, specifically:
<br />
<br />** Knowing when NO diagnostic or lab studies are indicated
<br />** Knowing which studies to select and when
<br />** Interpreting all the key tests
<br />** Basic lab/diagnostic study algorithms
<br />** Identifying which study/procedure will most likely establish the dx or differentiate it from another
<br />** Predicting the most likely lab or diagnostic test result
<br />
<br />Bottom line: I passed easily and I'm thankful to those who recommended this gem. But I also wanted to take a few minutes to "pass" this on to others as well. I know there's a lot of other favorable reviews below, but they really didn't go into much detail. I'd also give a top recommend to the Frontrunners Q&A book which was another treasure trove and landed me a lot of extra points on the exam. As far as I'm concerned, it was the perfect combination.
<br />
Solid review for Step 3. My friend used it for his Step 2 too and loved it, but my only experience was for 3. I like the way the book's organized by medicine subspecialties (Cards, GI, Renal, Tox, etc) and the outline is a huge time-saver while leaving nothing to the imagination. GREAT book and a zealous recommend. |

| I like to listen to lectures and high yield stuff over and over again... so I tried this. I've been reasonably happy with it until I saw the book for sale at my medical student books store where I noticed that the book was ~$5 more than I paid for the audio-only version and it included a code to allow downloading of the audio material here. I felt a little miffed. I'd recommend the book with the code so you get access to both mediums. Defiantly better as a review/reminder of things you know rather than learning new information -it's Q&A without a lot of explanation so if you don't know what's being talked about it'd just be grunt memorization. |
