This is an essential bibliography as a reference to introducing students for the Plant Pathology science.

This is an excellent introduction to plant pathology and the kind of book one tends to hold onto to use as a reference after finishing their coursework. I have known plenty of graduate students who've held onto their copies, and I've really never heard any serious criticisms of this book. The coverage is broad, and it will serve as a useful, interesting and highly readable reference for those with interests in bacteriology, virology, mycology, botany and a variety of other fields that overlap with aspects of plant pathology. Typically when I rate textbooks I am fairly harsh because the cost is generally high while contents often leave much to be desired. In my opinion this book is an exception, and I think the cost reasonably reflects the value of the information contained.

I have been out of Phytopathology since the fall of 1971. Over the years I have; from time to time; skimmed journals like Mycologia and Phytopathology. So the old urge came back and I bought this text on the recommendation of a friend.

This is an excellent text book on general plant pathology. The scope is extensive and I was delighted that a goodly portion of the book explores host pathogen interactions with a microbiological slant. My late, learned, and very noble professor, Dr. R. K. Hegde would have been thrilled to no end considering that the book generally follows his outlines of PL-PATH 600. Dr. Hegde Sir, whereever you are, remember that seminar in May 1968 on the basidiomycetous Fungi with Dr. C.S.Holton in the audience and your passioned pleas for more biochem data? Well those questions are explored to some extent in this book.

If you have any interest in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or plant science get this book. Most definitely a classic.

I love this book. I used Robbins before but it seems like it highlights a lot of research info than true pathology. Rubin is very illustrative, simple to understand, and straight forward. It's all a matter of preferences. I'm very visual and a very graphic book is excellent for me than a thousand words.

Simply put, this is the end-all be-all when it comes to pathologic analysis of disease states. Typically this is for 2nd year Medical School Students and/or Pathology trainees. Unless you are going into pathology as a sub-discipline, you may be overloaded with this information. If you want a concise primer on all things pathology, look into "Essential Pathology" by Rubin, which is intended as a summary of the 4th edition seen here. Of note is that the Essential Pathology does not include the CD-Rom that comes with this book, which is the best pictorial-based review I've ever seen -- worth the cost of the book alone!

To expand, IF PRESSED ON TIME, DON'T GET THIS ONE! If you are willing to spend the time and effort required for a HUGE book like this (over several semesters), your money will be well spent. As a book itself, this one has 5 stars easily; as a text for a course, I'd give 4 1/2, only for the overabundance of information for a short period of time.

I have had Dr. Rubin in classes (and some courses using the same text but with other Thomas Jefferson University professors), and the man is a genius in the field. This is just one student's opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, but I mention this only to describe the wealth, if not overabundance, of information contained within this book.

As somebody who's preparing for the exam I found this review very useful. While some chapters are more complete then the others, in general all major entities in every system is covered. The answer section not only gives the right answer but discusses all other possibilities. Pictures are smallish but knowing the entity you have no trouble recognizing it. Highly recommend this book.

I recently took the AP boards and used this book in my preparation. Although using this book does help in overall review of AP topics and identifies areas of weakness, there are several problems with this book. First, the questions do not follow the same format as the questions on the real board exam. Second, as with any multi-author textbook, some chapters are better than others. Third, there are many topics and questions in AP on the real exam that are not covered in this book. The explanations to the questions are pretty good and are quite helpful. In summary, this book is good practice, but don't be too reliant on it and don't expect it to cover everything on the AP boards.

This excellent review cover all the main areas of anatomic pathology. Most of the questions feature color photographs. The answers provide complete and clear explanations using up to date textbook and journal references. I would recommend this book to anyone preparing for the anatomic pathology board or the resident in-service examination.

This book came in a very timely manner and was in very good condition. I will use you again.

The wonderful and numerous color pictures, the mass amount of info. I have been waiting for a textbook like this for years. My students have found the text very useful and important when studying for exams. This book has made my school maintain its high standard for its curriculum. My instructors have found it to be straightforward and unproblematic to teach from. I can't wait for more from Sandy Fritz! Wonderful I will recommend to all in the profession.

I am just finishing massage school and used this textbook. The way the information was explained and the learning activites helped so much. All the information about the sciences related to massage making the reading interesting. The chapters on muscles and biomechanices were especially interesting. Even if you have used a different anatomy and physiology text book I really suggest you get this one to understand how the information relates to massage

Very good book with a lot of picture to illustrate the sicknesses

Great reference for testing techniques, trigger point instruction and charts. Every serious massage therapist should have one on their shelf.

I taught a pathology course for massage students using this textbook. I thought the the red/yellow/green stopligh visual would make this book a nice reference book, although I knew up front that the descriptions of some of the conditions were not entirely accurate. In reality, I found that I had to spend a great deal of time correcting the textbook each time we covered a new chapter. This text doesn't even begin to cover current pathophysiology, which I think is important so that students can begin to think about what causes disease, rather than just memorize a list of conditions where massage isn't indicated. I found many of the references questionable. We expect massage therapists to have a good scientific knowledge of the human body, why shouldn't they have an equally scientific knowledge of pathology? I will not teach with this textbook again.

In reading this book, it is apparent that Dr. Wenig knows his topic.
I particularly liked the concise way that he headed each chapter. This is very helpful for providing an excellent framework to learn from.
Throughout the chapters the "bullet-style" informational sections were very helpful in assimilating large amounts of information quickly.

I received my textbook as described, packaged well and in a timely fashion. Thank you for your promptness.

"Comprehensive Radiographic Pathology" is a very good text which I used for studying for the national registry exam. I also looked over, "The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography." These had key questions that showed me what to know.

This book is a valuable educational tool. It has the information to assist the technologist in recognizing what they see, or in planning the exam to find suspected pathology.
This is really a pretty good book. It seems to be helping overall with my comprehension of the subject, but the material is very dense. I don't think anyone should really expect to retain too much on the first go around, but using the review questions near at the end of each chapter really helped with the pathology class, and the testing for that class.

Damjanov does a good job of explaining the overall processes that you need to know. Some things are more in depth than others, but if you are looking for clear pictures and a good foundation, Patho does a good job.

Altough complete, updated and deep covering most of the aspect of clinical pathology, exposition of the matter is done in the list form, like a "things to buy" note. It looks like a student's lesson note and the subject is not treated in the usual way a book does, as say with sensed phrases that correlate one to the next following a logical thread. It is more a manual than a book and it is something that is impossible to read one paragraph after the other, and even harder to remember. Anyway it carries a lot of useful information and helped me whenever i needed.

In my opinion, the best veterinary clinical pathology book. Great easy to read format. Consise, but providing more than just the basics. Great cases studies in the back that review topics.

This book attempts to un-demonize Hitler long enough to understand his development as an abused child, a failed person, and as the most evil dictator in human history. Only a Jewish Psychololgist could attempt such a feat, and the author, George Victor, has done a remarkable job. Most interesting was how Victor pointed out in great detail the conflicted personality of Hitler, piece by piece, and tied those conflicts to the abuse that he and his beloved mother suffered at the hands of his father.

Virtually everything Hitler said or did was a contradiction, due to his extreme self-loathing, wherein he masked his own intense hatred of himself and his father, by pretending to be superhuman, while projecting everything he hated about himself and his family, a tall order, onto every other group imaginable, all of whom paid the ultimate price for reminding Hitler of himself.

Must read for anybody interested in WWII and/or German/Austrian history.

someone has made sense out of it all...by filling in Hitler's background,as it has never been revealed before...we can understand how madness and evil converged in the persona of one man who managed to murder millions because of his completely illogical beliefs..My whole life I have been trying to understand him(his evil influence),and this book has really helped me considerably.I can even see how his vile minions, the SS,were attracted to him and his ruthlessness..and obeyed him til the end. This is a fact-filled book, yes, but it is extremely well-written and researched, and I have read it over the course of two days.If you are, as I am,fascinated and repulsed at the same time about the most powerful and evil (well..I can't use bad language here,so fill in the blanks)"human being" of the 20th century...then this most excellent book will help you further in understanding just what happened, and why.

Not to be confused with "Hitler: the search for the origins of his evil".
I advise readers not to be concerned at seeing the word psychoanalysis being bandied about here. It is true that Victor comes from a background in this but the book does not lean on the spurious nature of psychoanalysis and it makes sense in its own terms. I strongly recommend the book. Now Hitler makes perfect sense. An essential supplement to a Hitler biography for students of the man.
