| Excellent book. Quick reading. Very logical. A General Surgeon
told me in 1970 that the cashless society was coming. Debit Cards,
etc. There is no privacy anyway, now days. This has been coming
a long time already. The book presents it very clearly. Any one
should grasp what the author is saying. I agree with most of the
positive comments made by the other reviewers.
I checked. This book was written in 1998. How did the author know that the former Governor of Texas would be innaugerated in January 2001, and then re-elected in 2004? Also, all the legislation hastily passed by Congress to secure us from terrorist activity? A national ID card starting with the current drivers license state scandals. On and on it goes. Economic terrorism, cyber terrorism, it's all part of the same conservative agenda to take absolute control of United States citizens, followed by their global ambitions. Farenheit 911 was a great book, but this book written six years earlier should have been the wake up call to all patriotic liberals. How did so many people miss this? This book foretells the bleak future the conservative agenda has in store for all of us. Read this book and for Gods sake, pay attention to the current headline news coming out of Washington. This is truly a frightening and credible conspiracy disguised as fiction, and proven true by six years of history.
I have seen this before. History has taught us how the God fearing citizens will remain silent as they step over the bodies of the opposition. The cashless society does appear as a utopia. The theory is sound, the technology is available, the legislation is in place,(homeland security), the need to protect our cyber security in a global economy has never been so important to our survival. The cashless society provides for the elimination of nearly all crime, from drug trafficking, welfare fraud, corporate and government corruption, down to the lowest levels of crime for spendable profit; not to mention the huge government budget savings. As flawless as this system appears to be, I fear for the trade off of our personal libertys for the sake of our security. I see the invisable bar code as clearly as I saw the tatooed number on my Grandfather's wrist.
I give this book five stars simply because I believe all patriotic citizens should read this book and beware. Read this book and read the politcal legislation being passed, or in committe now. The threat of terrorism is bringing the brutal efficiency of this futuristic reality coming to pass. The accuracy of this author is frightening beyond my simple comprehension. This work was originally published in 1998. Who do you know predicted that the former Governor from Texas would be innaugerated in January of 2001. Who is this omniscient author from Southern New England? Purchase and read this book. Demand that all of your family members and loved ones do the same. |

| Reminds me a lot of a good Tom Clancy novel. I was very pleasantly surprised by how exciting this book is. Compared to many contemporary thrillers, the plot & characters here are far more developed and believable. The main character, Mitch Rapp, is not some wooden macho guy without a brain, but a solid, very credible figure.

Also, I don't feel that the author wrote this for a 6th grader, which is the tone I get on many other novels.

I can't wait for my ride home on the subway to get back to this book!
