A comprehensive review guide to help you refresh your study. This guide is particularly useful for midterms and final exams, condensing a semester's worth of information into one concise volume.
Given the upsurge of interest in complementary therapies and treatments, medical researchers are gradually being pressured to reassess and expand their knowledge of the structure and organization of the whole human body. Despite advances in modern technology, there are vast areas of human physiological activity that remain undetectable to conventional scientific observation. Those processes, according to Rudolf Steiner, are related to spiritual forces and beings. In these revealing lectures, Steiner concentrates on the relationship between those forces and the human physical organs. In particular, he discusses the organs that make up our digestive and respiratory systems; the significance of "warmth" in the function of the blood and its effects on the I, or Ego; and the evolutionary process implicit in the formation of the spinal column and brain. He deals with all of this in a scientific way that will appeal equally to doctors and therapists, as well as students of Steiner?s spiritual science. These talks?long out of print?are also remarkably accessible to the general reader.
Essential for course and USMLE review! This comprehensive review of physiology conveys essential information in a unique, student-friendly tabular format. Organized by body system and composed entirely of tables and charts, this innovative resource facilitates comparisons and clarifies relationships among the structure and function of various organ systems.
Review Arrived on time, exactly what I asked for, great condition, no problems. I would definitely order again!
This book is a superb, concise, up-to-date review of basic physiology in the form of charts, tables, diagrams and illustrations. The book is exceptionally well-organized and focused, which permits ready access to the information. Although designed primarily for medical students, it is also valuable for physicians interested in concise and accurate review information. I found that it provided me with all the basic information that I needed to review for the Boards. This book should be in the library of every physician who is interested in keeping current. Highly recommended!
Although the text contains charts, tables, mnemonics, and fast facts, its strength is its charts. There are a huge number of them, and they are very detailed and well-organized. For example, renal physiology, which is always a challenge, contains some exeptional charts,(specifically, p.312, Summary of Renal Tubular Function). The book also includes relevant anatomy and clinical information - a definite bonus. As with most mnemonics, some are useful, while others are simply good for amusement.
A system- and disease-based approach to the aspects of pulmonary pathophysiology, essential for an understanding of clinical medicine. Bridging the gap between basic science and clinical medicine, this text provides students with a solid understanding of symptom identification and the underlying disease mechanism. Features clinical pearls, learning objectives, study questions, algorithms, and key concepts highlighting the presentation in each chapter.

Product Description
"Human Physiology" is intended for the one-semester Human Physiology course often taken by allied health and other biology students. The beginning chapters introduce basic chemical and biological concepts to provide students with the framework they need to comprehend physiological principles. The chapters that follow promote conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization of facts. Health applications are included throughout to heighten interest, deepen understanding of physiological concepts, and help students relate the material to their individual career goals. Every effort has been made to help students integrate related concepts, and understand the relationships between anatomical structures and their functions.
This excellent summary reference includes a comprehensive illustrated review of important anatomy and related physiological principles. Where appropriate, the authors have developed summary tables of important physiological concepts such as cardiac electrical conductivity and renal filtration. This useful handbook serves as a reminder reference for students and practitioners who have already completed courses in anatomy and physiology and as a "quick reference" for individuals who must understand and investigate medical-related information using anatomy and physiology terminology.
Review I said a prayer two days ago, and asked for a book that explained anatomy in simple terms that I understand, and then, I walked into the college bookstore and saw this. First of all, ANYTHING by Mosby would be purchased by me, and this is no exception! Now, this is a small, compact book that you can carry anywhere, to the supermarket, on the train, even to class rather than the large textbooks that are also needed. While much more of the information may be in the text, this is a great supplement, because anything that you need to add, there is room on many of the pages to include your own notes. Now, I know I will make it through Anatomy, as well as on my way to become a nurse! GET THIS BOOK!!
As an NP student, I needed a condensed reference book. This one is it! All of the body systems explained very briefly with wonderful conceptual models and diagrams, fetal circulation, etc. There are pictures of bones, muscles, veins, all the basics. Included are tables with chemistry and lab values and some reasons for abnormals, which muscles/tendons move what, planes of the body, cells and their functions, pictures of different kinds of tissues, teeth, cranial nerves, dermatomes, you name it, it's in here! It's like having three or four books in one. Well worth the money, in my opinion. And it fits in your pocket or small enough to go with your 20 other books in your book bag! Great for students and new practitioners. And for those who would like a good reference book that is portable.
Should there be warning labels on fast foods? Should SUV drivers pay extra taxes? Should employers be allowed to require drug testing of prospective employees? This introductory biology text helps you master biology while encouraging you to think about critical issues. The issues-oriented approach enlivens the subject matter and helps you grasp concepts by making connections between biology and real-life concerns. Here's how it works: An "Impacts, Issues" case study opens each chapter, focusing on a biology-related societal issue. You also view a short film that expands on the issue. Then each chapter's "How Would You Vote?" question, inspired by the case study, asks you to consider biology-related news, explore the facts behind the issue, apply your knowledge of biology, and cast a vote on the Web. You can also see state and nationwide voting tallies. This book has been widely praised for clear and engaging writing, art with step-by-step callouts, and terrific support from student media that all work together to help you "get" biology. Technology highlights include CengageNOW, an interactive online resource featuring personalized study plans and hundreds of animations, and an MP3 download of audio study tools that let you review concepts from the text anywhere!

Physiology: A Regulatory Systems Approach by: Fleur L. Strand publisher: Macmillan Pub Co, published: 1983-01 ISBN: 002417680X sales rank: 1831068 Review This book has been one of my most important resources for many years, though it has been out of print (unfortunately) for some time. It is the only book I have found that focuses on the integrative, regulatory approach to understanding how the body and psyche function. This is critical for my work in the integrity health field. It is in essence the perfect physiology book for those people interested in integrative medicine and health care. All the body's functions are integrated and have regulatory mechanisms. The organs and tissues are not isolated structures, as one might think after studying conventional physiology texts. As a result of the proper functioning of the regulatory mechanisms, so beautifully described in this text, the body can function healthfully and as a whole. When the regulatory functions fail, the repercussions can be great and even devastating. This book deserves to be updated and reprinted. It is a classic and is yet it is not yet out of date. In fact, I believe it was a decade ahead of its time. It was marketed to scientists and young students only and did not fall into the hands of progressive thinkers. Now this type of information would fall into the mainstream. It should be marketed more aggressively as book intended for the educated lay reader, thousands of whom can understand this material. I hope Dr. Strand reads this and considers re-editing a new edition.

Review dont let the bland text fool you. i got through a whole block of tests before I realized just how helpful this book is. my med school phys class lacks a lot of prose in our syllabi and this definitely fills in the gaps. could use a bit more color, some pictures, and it's a pretty hefty book but well worth the price (and much cheaper at amazon than any other place new).
the book was sent quickly and has no marks or bad pages in it. i would recommend this company.
This is my required textbook for my Advanced Physiology class. This book is ridiculous! It is not the subject matter, but the textbook is written poorly and it is very hard to read. My school also have "Textbook of Medical Physiology" by Guyton on reserve for us to use as a supplemental resource, and Guyton book is much better in providing information in clear, and understandable manner. I regret wasting my money on this book, which otherwise could have been used to have a copy of Guyton book myself. Save your money, and look elsewhere.
