The book was wonderful for a quick Anatomy, Embryo, Histo, Phys and Biochem review. Basically it's good for everything but Path. And lets face it - most of us use Goljan Rapid Review for that. If you have used or like the Kaplan lecture series books, this will work for you. Its a high yield review of lecture material in Kaplan mainly in chart format. Its main advantage over FA is the use of pictures that help to illustrate the anatomy and embryology. I love it and have pushed FA2008 aside in favor of this book. In quick review - you WILL need a different Path review book, but this is more detailed and better as a high yield review of general info!

this book is just a collection of randomly picked figures from the kaplan books---that's it...I'm not sure how they decided to include/exclude information, but this is no substitude for 1st Aid, brs phys, goljan...I wouldn't waste anytime with this. Also print quality is very bad making the some of the images REALLY hard to read...the text is just fine otherwise.

THIS IS THE BEST AND MOST COMPLETE BOOK YOU WILL EVER NEED TO PREPARE FOR USMLE STEP 1!!! FOR THOSE WHO NEED A GRRRREAT REVIEW BOOK FOR STEP 1. YOU ARE GOING TO SHOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT IF YOU DON'T BUY THIS..IT SHOULD BE WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE IN BASICS!! IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE BOOK LEARN IT LOVE IT UNDERSTAND IT!!! I GUARANTEE YOU WILL RAISE YOUR SCORE!!!! <br />I AM 100% CONFIDENT ABOUT THIS BOOK AND HOW GREAT IT IS!!! BUY IT!!!! <br />ITS A MUST!!!! <br /> <br />Yes first aid is there but it doesn't cover the depths of Medessential..The uniqueness about KAPLAN MEDESSENTIALS is that it goes by organ system. IT starts with the Embryo, and finishes up the chapter with Pharm and Path!!! <br /> <br />It is the complete thing!!! And No I don't work for Kaplan, I just had the pleasure to use this book for step 1. I was blown away with how it fit the real style of USMLE!!! <br /> <br />I wish I had it when I was in basics, because it helps draw out the most important facts that are a must for step 1 instead of bombarding your head with useless facts. <br />Thank you KAPLAN!!

I bought this book after I read all 8 UCV (Undeground Clinical Vignettes) from the same authors. I was able to compare them. Obviously it has fewer cases, most of them are identical. FA team rushed this book in production and as a result there are lots of mistakes and really inconvinient layout. My only recommendation is to buy a cheaper previous edition of UCV books (ISBN 0632045590).

Overall, it is a good book, however, it has some areas which it can improve. I am reading this page right now, that is when i decided to write this review. <br /> <br />for example, on page, 160, case 15 for GI system, it listed a case, and I was trying to guess the diagnosis, but it didn't have one!on that page, it has "live blood supply, hepatocytes, structures close by the liver, fetal blood supply, where is falciform ligament", none of those have anything to do with the case. At least, tell us the diagnosis. <br /> <br />Another thing, it frequently list lab findings, but it doesn't list the normal values. The normal values are not listed at the end of the book, either. It would be nice if they can just list the lab value, and relevant normal values side by side, so it can speed up the reading.

This is not bad as another book to have for Step1 Prep. Don't overwhelm yourself with too many books because there are ALOT of books out there. Just pick a handful becuase otherwise you will have conflicting information.

I used Kaplans Step 2 Qbook throughout MS-3. I would highly recommend this to any other MS-3 as a great resource to study for individual shelf exams from IM to surg. It was great to only buy one (inexpensive) question book for all of third year. I have not yet taken step 2 so cannot discuss how it prepares you for that test. <br /> The questions are slightly easier than pre-test. The answer and explanation section is complete and better organized than most question books. In summary, if you like question books, this is a must have for all of third year.

i dunno how this book prepares you for step 2ck since i haven't taken it yet, but it doesn't do that great of a job for shelf exams. i find that the questions in this are much easier than the ones in the NBME shelf - they're shorter, give more obvious hints, more answer choices can be ruled out, and NONE of the questions ask you to interpret images. i also don't like how the book is so lopsided. 400 of the questions are in the internal medicine section and others like ob/gyn, psych, and surgery only get 100 questions each. this is definitely not enough for shelf exam preparation and other question resources must be used. <br /> <br />still, the content in these questions is high yield so i'd use them as a learning tool rather than an assessment of how you'll do on the shelf. the answer explanations are nice in that you get to see why each choice is right/wrong. if you are looking for a more balanced question book, particularly with questions that require image interpretation, try blueprints q+a for step 2. it has 200 questions for each of the 5 core clerkships.

I used this book and score a 220!!!!!!!!!!! <br />Excellent source, a must to have!

Never mind the retard who gave this product a single star. He was probably the one rushing. <br /> <br />These cards are wonderfully illustrated and covers all the major topics that you will very likely see (and have seen) on the test: CV, derm, endo, ENT, GI, GU, Heme, Immuno, ID, multisystem, neuro, OB/GYN, ophtho, peds, psych, resp, rhematology. Each section is color-coded and it's quite fun to go through with a friend. It's ultra portable so you can take to to the restaurant, in the car, at the park, and just go thru it with a study buddy. It's worth the money and Conrad Fischer IS the bomb! Combine this with USMLE World, Kaplan notes, USMLE Secrets, Secrets Q&A book and First Aid for Step 2 and you'll be rockin n rollin to the stars. Do your best!! It's a harrowing affair for all of us.......

Quick and high-yield review of relevant clinical findings for USMLE Step 2CK. Very well illustrated (color pictures) and additional online multimedia clips where necessary. Most of them contain a picture on one side and the diagnostic and most likely cause for that finding on the other. Others have a test name on one side and how it's done and indications on the other. I gave it only 4 stars because some online multimedia clips are "upcoming."

I have never written a review...everyone has different needs so I will try point out things that I think everyone will find useful: there are several spelling and grammar problems-several cards had no pictures or drawings, there were several which were very incomplete or useless (ex-knee effusion didn't mention gono and no breakdown of tap findings and no tx-and there was the picture of cleft lip-which told me it was a cleft lip...gee thanks) <br />I was left with the feeling that this was rushed to press..to make some cash??? <br />Fix them-and get some reviewers next time- and give me my money back.

Excellent resource for quick, concise, to the point information. It's an easy read and may be completed easily within one week.

This book is very easy to read, with good explanations for the ethics concepts that are applied in the US medical field. <br />I find this book very helpful to undestand and apply the medical ethics concepts in the questions presented in the USMLE format. Explanations are case related which give an easy way to follow and review the material.

I think that this book is one of the best for the ethics and will be very much useful for all usmle exams ..... since now a days they are asking more ethics questions. One of the books you must have if you want to master and crush ethics in the real exam.....

It makes you confident to answer what is correct . My advice is buy this , if you donot have economic concerns. <br /> <br />

Great review material for short period of time!!!Dr. Conrad Fisher is one of the genuises of Internal medicine...

<br /> <br />This is a wonderful tool for scoring good on step 2 ck, <br />The flash cards are really very nice and the content is extraordinary. <br />I know Conrad and he is a genious in Medicine and all the content in the flashcards is very important for step2 and 3. <br />Advantage: Good content and short term revision.must know facts. <br />Disadvantage: Quality of paper is very low it looks like flashpapers and not flashcards. <br />

This is a great supplement to FA. The Neuro section is particularly useful as it goes through concepts more in depth than does FA.

This book is a perfect brief systems review for the visual learner. It hits the high points and has more tables that make comparing disorders easier than in the First Aid. It has great diagrams as well and isn't as all over the place as First Aid. But, it does lack some of the information in the First Aid, but you can add that stuff in anyway or get it fom Goljan...

This is an adequate review book for students already familiar with basic concepts. However, I found that it lacked the high-yield hits or points of emphasis that would help one remember the most important aspects of a given subject. I suggest reading this book after First Aid.

This book is beyond great. There are a few mistakes in terms of spelling, but the concepts are great and it really finds a way to incorporate biochemistry, path, physio and pharm together. I think it is a great book for helping people study for step 1

yes i was waiting to give this review , the stupidest thing i did to buy some thing from ur website <br />i hav paid for this book , very much i need in urgent for my exam , <br />but that sucks , you guys send me that after 4 weeks <br />after my exams <br />so your service sucks <br />and i send 2 emails and you simply ignore , by sending an automated message <br />i will not recommend anybody to go for your service or products , and send negative feed back internet for you always

This book is chock full of great 'pearls'. Written by medical school students, it explains concisely what you absolutely need to know. Broken down by subject, it allows you to review areas of weakness. Absolutely the best guide I've found so far!

This is a great book and is ALL YOU NEED, in addition to a QUESTION BANK. If you put in the time to learn this material and learn from your mistakes on missed questions on your question bank, you will do well on the actual exam. What I did was after reviewing each section, taking practice sets of questions and writing the things I missed into the margins in the appropriate sections of the book. Reviewing the material several times is key. I have very short attention span and probably did not study quite as hard as many of my classmates but with this book and a question bank I scored ~230. Good Luck!

This is THE book for preparing for the USMLE Step 1. Its new systems-based organization make it an amazing product for reviewing for the test. Write in it and refer to it as you go through your first and second years in medical school, and you will be glad to have done it. <br /> <br />This is a great comprehensive review that gives you information in the most concise and easy to remember format. Be sure to check the associated web page for the errata though. <br /> <br />Tao Le is the man!

So far, this was the book highly recommended by all my friends who have taken the USMLE step 1. Its a good reviewer only if you've read the basic books while you were studying in class, but if you dont understand the basics, this might not be the book you should start with. The outline form is awesome especially for your last days of review before the exam.

First thing first. I scored a 247 on Step 1. As many of you know that have taken the exam. The key is to know what to study for the exam since there is an infinite amount of information. Once you find the "tested" information you have to sit down and MEMORIZE. That is the key to these USMLE exams. For those that have trouble memorizing the necessary information, the best thing to do is to "do questions" so that way you can remember the key concepts. For Step 1 all you really need is First Aid for Step 1, Goljan audio, and Kaplan QBank + Qbook. That's it.... <br /> <br />Now for Step 2 it is much different. First Aid is not as high yield as it is for Step 1. Even if you had First Aid for Step 2 in the exam room with unlimited time there will be information that is NOT IN THE BOOK. First Aid lives off of its Step 1 reputation. <br /> <br />For Step 2, I scored a 241. Which isn't spectacular BUT I studied for the exam during my interview season in January. I studied for 3 weeks. I memorized this book and did USMLE World questions. That is all you need. Most of the high yield information that is TESTED is not found in First Aid. Use your time wisely. My advice is to memorize this book, Step 2 Secrets, and do ALL of the questions (and read every answer explanation) in USMLE World. Keep in mind though there will still be questions that you have never seen but these will be fewer and far between if you use the "right" resources. Good Luck. <br />

This book is an excellent adjunct to use in studying for Step 2 CK. By challenging you with a gut-reaction recall type format, you will actively learn and reinforce important topics and associations. It's best used for a quick review in the final days of Step 2 studying to refresh your memory of all the high yield associations.

UCSD makes us take step 2 early on in the year and time is defintiely a limiting factor. If you are in the same boat, I would highly recommend this book. Even if you are not under a time crunch, you should still read this book to re-enforce facts you already know. The Q&A format is similar to that of Surgical Recall. I used a question bank and read this book to tie everything together before I took the exam. This book is very high yield, and works well as an adjuvant to a more cohesive detailed review source like usmle world q-bank. <br /> <br />After I took step 2, I passed the book onto a fellow panicked classmate going into derm and after reading the book, lets just say he didn't need an ativan or xanex hook-up before the exam. I read the book in 1.5 days (w/ several breaks) and my confidence defintely went way up afterwards. If you are worried about step 2, buy this book and you will realize that you know more from 3rd year than you think. <br /> <br />On radiology, my resident asked me what books I used for step 2 review. Being the slow person that I am, I didn't put two and two together. John Naheedy is now a radiology resident at UCSD and he is a nice guy. So besides donating to feed the "John Naheedy Foundation," your USMLE step 2 score will be higher than your step 1 score after Deja Review: USMLE STEP 2 Essesntials, guaranteed! Good luck on the exam! =)
