The book is a rather good introductory book upon behavioral genetics, covering various emotional and behavioral disorders. It is stimulating and interesting, and very academic in nature. To a reader searching for practical implication of behavioral genetics, there may be little appointment. No matter what, I do agree that the behavioral genetics is a subject that every psychologist, or even every person, should have some ideas about this new development in science.

The book covers topics in a minimalist fashion and at an undergraduate level rather than the level expected for practitioners who will be expected to use and understand medical genetics and its impact on molecular medicine during their careers. No references are given for those who wish to explore in more detail. For people who wish to explore the "why" and "how" of medical genetics, other books are better. For the student who wishes to ensure a basic level of competency for USMLE Step 1, it's OK and reasonably priced.

Whether this is your first exposure to the topic, or you need a quick review, this is an excellent book. With clear explanations, key concepts separated into boxes and many examples, this is the perfect all-purpose genetics text.

This book is concise and easy to read. Invaluable resource for parents and teachers - anyone who works with a child with VCFS. I'm purchasing this copy for my daughter's school and I can't say enough good things about it.

Very informative, easy to read book. Everything you could ever need to know about VCFS - book to refer to throughout my daughter's life - from birth to adulthood. So thankful found such a book.

The writing is clear and the derivations, for the most part, straightforward. (The derivations of mutational heritability and Fisher's Fundamental Theorem are still somewhat obscure to me.) The problems are also excellent; the computations and manipulations are not overly laborious, but you do have to think and exercise a sound conceptual grasp of the material. Make sure you know first-year calculus before tackling this book.

I am a Physicist trying to learn a bit about Genetics. I take the book seriously and I solve the problems and the computer proyects that the author poses. The book is highly readable and interesting (just some few type mistakes). This I warranty since I have had not the need of much consulting outside the book and this is not my field of research!!. The author goes from the basics up to some remarks of unsolved problems and controversy.

Perhaps you might think that a book that calls itself a lab manual is something typically spiral bound. With lots of pages of forms, for the user to fill in various places. Where the manual is the subordinate companion to some fully fledged textbook. And assuredly where the manual is somewhat cheap; not the $165 list price of this book.

But this book differs from most lab manuals. It is not the accompaniment to another text. It is the pulling together of numerous detailed experimental protocols. The materials (reagents and equipment) are made explicit, and so too the methods. There is a modest amount of explanatory prose for a few protocols.

The price still seems a trifle much. Maybe it's due to the specialised audience.

The book serves as a partial introduction to the authors' business process modeling approach. The technique may have merit, but do not purchase the book expecting to learn how to apply xBML process modeling. What you get is a hugely overpriced, extended sales pitch for their seminars and software. The explications of elements of their dramatistic framework (who, what, where, when, which) are always incomplete, with repeated reference to footnotes informing the reader the rest of the information is available in their seminars.

Having paid so much for a book-length but content-light advertisement would - perhaps - have been less irritating if the quality of the writing had been better. The authors apparently suffer from UPAT(tm) (Unnecessary Proliferation of Acronyms and Trademarks) and OCAE!(tm) (Obsessive-Compulsive Application of Exclamations!).
