Great gross and microscopic pictures and illustrations. The authors collected the best pictures for the most common pathologies. After reading the preface I understand that this atlas is a supplement for Anderson`s pathology.

I think this atlas is most helpful for medical students, those starting residency in pathology, and as quick review for general pathologist. I wish they included more EM pics or seperate section on EM.

I highly recommend this book for AP board exam review

I wish i had this book 3 years ago....

I hate to say it, but unfortunately I was very unimpressed with this book. One good feature is the informative and concise descriptions of all the pathologies. These are useful.

However, the printing quality is very poor & the image quality is also bad especially for radiographs. It is really too bad that the pictures are so poor. I wouldn't recommend buying this book. I also own the Lexi Comp hard and soft tissue atlases and find them to be much more useful.

This is the only text I use for path anymore. Keep the others around for reference, but this is your main source. Lots of good prescriptions in the back. Great organization. Cuts out alot of the padding found in other texts. Don't be fooled by the slim profile, its jam packed with good and USEFUL info.

This atlas provides clear color photos highlighting the classic presentations of pathological lesions in and around the oral cavity. The text descriptions are a bit brief in some cases, but references are provided for further reading. I find it to be an excellent review and reference.

I used this as a basic text for anatomy/physiology in my massage therapy school. I found quite a few errors throughout the text, but overall, it was a simple to read and understand textbook. I felt that the text went into much more detail than was necessary on some aspects and not nearly enough on others. I will probably use this again until I find something that is more in tune with what a good massage therapy A&P text should be, maybe write one myself. The overlays in the back were a good idea as were the self exams although many of the answers were incorrect. Probably one of the strongest aspects of this book are the illustrations. They are certainly not of Netter's quality but not bad.

This book is a disappointment. I've read through half of the first section and been dismayed to find approximately one to two grammer and/or spelling mistakes per page, on average. I've also come across at least one flat-out factual inaccuracy and found my jaw gaping at the oversimpification of the science. Simplification is one thing, simplification to the point of being misleading is another thing. So far I've found this book to be written at a sixth to seventh grade level. This is insulting. That said, I'm sure there is good information in this book; however, if I find myself in unfamiliar territory I don't think I'll be able to trust it based on what I've seen so far. So, bottom line: beware. If you have a poor or nonexistent science background this book might be just the thing. If you've always been a science buff, skip it. If you do buy, just remember that you shouldn't believe everything you read. Good luck.

The Massage Connection: Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology is a complete introduction and survey to massage that is completely reader friendly and features objectives, test questions, case studies, pathology relevant to topics, and simplified, clear diagrams. The Massage Connection is enhanced with photographs with overlays for learning surface anatomy, location of muscles and fiber directions. It also features current information about pain, neoplasia, inflammation, healing, aging, and stress as they pertain to massage. This coilbound reference book is highly recommended for students of massage and a very useful reference for even the most experienced massage practitioner. Also highly recommended is VanPub Books' Interactive Pathology For Massage Therapists a book/cd-rom set which deals with over 400 diseases and provides everything a masseuse should know about infection prevention, safe practice, and much, much more.

I read through some of the reviews and felt compelled to write one. The reviews do not give this book credit. It is truly a great book. For someone who wants to know more information than is required this is the book for you (and this should be any medical student). That is why this book is recommened by more pathologists than the Robbins text, which does not go into much detail. If you ask around, this is the book that pathologists recommend because it is so integrative; explaining many more topics in detail than any other textbook. And just so the readers know, there are no required books in medical school, only recommended books. No matter where you go, you have the right to choose whatever book you feel will help you the most. So from someone who did use the book, and did extremely well in pathology (member of the pathology national honor society), this book provides a great way to learn pathology for a highly motivated student who truly wants to learn pathology.

How come all one-star-rating reviews seem written by one same guy? You hate your professor, but please do it in other ways. Don't confuse readers online.

I thought that this book was pretty good, although it may not be written for a medical student as much as a path resident. Excellent pictures, and good descriptions. I felt that the skin, kidney, and bone section were weak and wordy, but the blood, GI, cardiac, and neuro sections were well put together. I have not read robbins, although I think the general consensus is that is the book to use. The bottom line is I liked this book, and felt that I got a good pathology education from it.

This book seems to closely follow Ackerman's Surgical Pathology by Rosai, and it does a an admittedly good job of condensing the material down as much as possible. It very much appears that the author has published his personal notes from his studying for the AP boards. I really don't know how helpful this would be to someone else. The material is very dense (as many outlines of technical information must be), and you probably can go back and read your highlights of Rosai in the same time it would take to try to comprehend the material from this outline. The one exception is the appendix on Syndromes and Bodies that I thought was unique. Everyone studies differently, and there are many surgical pathology study aids out there. This one wasn't nearly as useful to me as the Pathology Pearls of Wisdom or "Osler" notes.

This book is a concise summary of the features of almost all pathologic entities. The first 35 pages deal with clinical pathology and basic science, summarizing in this short space what Robbins takes 600 pages to explain. The remainder of the text is devoted to anatomic pathology (including hematopathology) and is a great reference next to the microscope. The only problem is that there are no pictures.
