i took my step 2 last december and the questions on the exam were very (!) close to the ones on this cd. comparable products (even though newer) seemed to be made for a different exam....
to me the best source available.

Had no difficulty at all installing the CD. Although the software interface is slightly different than the real USMLE, the questions' style and content were right on the money. Like the real test, it allows you to mark and review questions. You can take whole exams or focused exams (e.g., OB/Gyn, Peds, Surg, etc.) in the areas where you need help. The biggest help was the computer timer ticking down just like the real exam -- nice to get used to this.

I am generally a fan of the NMS books, and have used many of them for my 3rd year clerkships with great results. I expected equivalent assistance from the NMS step 2 review CD. Unfortunately I had great difficulty installing and opening this CD and an hour later, gave up and borrowed the book from a classmate. I later heard from multiple classmates that they, too, had difficulties with this CD and preferred the book. I can wholeheartedly endorse the book with 5 stars, and assure other medical students that the step 2 version I took yesterday was very comparable to the test 4 therein.

Not for 2003 USMLE. Question format is old and uses out dated approach to the new exam. The New Exam focuses on the next step in management. Your money will be better spent on another book that is up to date.

Excellent book for question practice and core concept explained very well

There are no questions or CD that has questions.. This book just has answers with no questions...

Given the relatively sparse information that accompanies the USMLE CBT practice questions on CD-ROM, this book fills a critical void by providing solutions to the sample test questions. IT can turn a frustrating and disheartening experience into a learning, and confidence boosting session of test preparation.
The book can be used in any level of depth, from mere scanning of the correct answers to review of "original" resource material. IT proved to be very useful in my test preparation.

Overall, this was a book that I was glad that I had. I just wished that the writers could've given some words of advice at the end of their answers, based upon the knowledge they gained in their search and in their USMLE experience. This advice could say something as simple as, "Drug-Drug interactions appear to be highly important to the NBME."

Not well-written, questions cover esoteric, low-yield points, and the book is way overpriced for the number of questions it contains. Also found several factual errors, making me question the reliability of the information. Look elsewhere for step 3 review, such as Swanson's Family Practice review questions.

I needed a question book that I could go through in a few days and feel as though I had covered the "major" areas and high-yield info that I had forgotten since medical school. This book has a lot of nit-picky stuff that isn't asked on the boards (at least not the ones I took a few weeks ago). Not very well-written either. Wish I had flipped thru the pages a little more carefully before I bought it.

This book is good prep for step 3. The questions are well written and interesting to work through. Some of them are not as long as they are in the real exam but the format is similar. The clinical pictures are really good quality and the clinical examination tables are helpful for last minute review.

Please do not buy this. I bought it and I am absolutley disgusted at the quality of this book. Many questions appear to have been modified from previous editions however the answers no longer corelate with the questions. Spelling mistakes are everwhere and "renal cell carcinoma" is misspelled as "anal cell carcinoma" in more than one location! Many other spelling mistakes make studying from this book a very confusing procedure...
