| This book is excellent written, in an easy to read and understand format. It is completely revised and improved from the previous edition. All the pictures are color, a lot of tables and bibliographical information. It is concised and focused. It's a great book for the practicing pathologist.
Excellent review of basic lung pathology--very good color photos. |

| Of course Sternberg is one of the leading sources of general surgical pathology information and the book lives up to its reputation with adequate discussions of each topic with relatively good microscopic descriptions and information on special stains (unlike the new Rosai/Ackerman). However, consistently, he gives the name of an entity in one place in the books/volumes and then every where else it is only reffered to by its abbreviation. So now if you don't remember the abbreviation you have to hunt for it ealier in the chapter or in other chapters all together. And of course the abbreviation is not in the glossary nor is there a seperate index of abbreviations. I find that this adds unnecessary distractions and time to what should be smooth studying.
An excellent summary of surgical pathology. Does need to be supplemented with monographs and articles, such as those by Odze, Fenoglio-Preiser, Barnhill, Rosen, Foucar, Harris, Gnepp, Neville, Vigorita, Stocker, Humphrey, Ro, Robboy, Connor, Burger, Ellison, Miettinen, AFIP tumor and non-neoplastic fascicles, Major Problems in Pathology, Atlases in Diagnostic Surgical Pathology, WHO blue books, and all the usual journals. I also recommend Fletcher as an additional source. |
I bought this atlas for my friend Pathologist, who does also Histology work.I was expecting more microphotographs in this atlas. I found atlas of Histopathology of more use than this Atlas. I would say this book is overpriced for what it is.
I have been in this field for 18 years and found this book to be very informative. I was greatly impressed at the explainations of the different types of trauma. I would highly recommend this book as reference book to homocide investigators, F.I. and any law enforcement personelle working this area. |

| I hate to say it, but unfortunately I was very unimpressed with this book. One good feature is the informative and concise descriptions of all the pathologies. These are useful.

However, the printing quality is very poor & the image quality is also bad especially for radiographs. It is really too bad that the pictures are so poor. I wouldn't recommend buying this book. I also own the Lexi Comp hard and soft tissue atlases and find them to be much more useful.
This is the only text I use for path anymore. Keep the others around for reference, but this is your main source. Lots of good prescriptions in the back. Great organization. Cuts out alot of the padding found in other texts. Don't be fooled by the slim profile, its jam packed with good and USEFUL info.
This atlas provides clear color photos highlighting the classic presentations of pathological lesions in and around the oral cavity. The text descriptions are a bit brief in some cases, but references are provided for further reading. I find it to be an excellent review and reference. |

| I am very happy with this book...The text is very easy and short..Unlike other books, the text is concise and easliy read...Everything is also summerized and nicely arranged in small tables/boxes that help you for quick review, especially when you are busy in the sign-out or service work...There are also many nice pictures (although few pictures are not excellent but it doesn't matter as for every lesion you always find many illustrative pictures...still five stars!!). The book will also help you for Board study as it is arranged in a way very helpful for study (tables/summerizing boxes/short and concise text..The text is short in an amazing way that brings only what you need!). It really deserves five stars without doubt.
I have several texts I like for cytopath, but this is an excellent short book!!!! Highly recommended. |
