 | | By: Debra G.B. Leonard ISBN: 038733226X Publisher: Springer Release Date: 21 December, 2006 Bioscience book rank: 689484
| I used this book extensively for my MGP preperation and it helps me very much. It covers all the areas in the molecular pathology and I believe that so far it is the best. Some of the chapters are better than others and I really hope it can include some questions. I pass the board anyway |

| This is an excellent book (and quite frankly a "MUST HAVE") for the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Resident, Private Practitioner or Attending Surgeons. It is also a book well suited for Otorhinolaryngologists, Plastic/Reconstructive Surgeons and General Dentists.
<br />
<br />It is written in a clear, comprehensive and enjoyable format.
<br />
<br />Highly Recommended and worth every penny.

I have had this book only for a few days but I already highly recommend to all working in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The book is great in not only explaining pathology but also treatment options.
This is a comprehensive medical textbook oriented towards specialists, fellows, residents medical and dental students treating pathologies found in the oral cavity, facial and neck areas. The clinically oriented text addresses the underlying mechanism of each disease and how symptoms dictate the clinical and radiographic presentation. The authors comprehensively present more than 425 disease pathologies through clinical presentation and pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, diagnostic work-up, histopathology, treatment and prognosis. The pathologies presented are accompanied by illustrations, histological cuts, radiographs, clinical photographs and tables, all of which make this textbook stand out from the others. There are more than 2,100 superb color photographs as well. This is timeless reference book making it well worth its hefty price tag. |
 | | By: Richard A. Prayson ISBN: 0443066582 Publisher: Churchill Livingstone Release Date: 13 May, 2005 Bioscience book rank: 695067
| Dr. Prayson's book has some weaknesses which I hope are addressed in the next edition of this text. The first is the pictures. For the most part they are very good, but some of the gross specimens are very blurry and hard to make out. My second criticism is that the diseases are not well organized into groups, and instead are presented as a long list of unrelated pathologies.
<br />
<br />The strengths of the book are many, and outweigh the weaknesses. There are a large number of pictures in the book, and they are adjacent to the text describing the disease, making it easy to read while you review the photographs. Each disease has it's own summary boxes, one which describes the general features of the disease while the other describes the pathological findings. Lastly, the text is very well written with very little irrelevant material included. The pertinent details of each disease are presented in an efficient are straight-forward manner.
This book is well written with up-to-date information. There are a lot of tables and excellent photographs. I found this book to be very helpful on my neuropathology rotation.
Not bad with fine big size good quqlity illustrations but falls somewhat short due to its brevity. Too much non tumour pathology and not enough tumour pathology if we take into consideration the daily practice of a general pathologist. |

| Dampness and phlegm are among the most vexing elements in treating patients with Chinese Medicine. This book is the best I have seen in discussing the physiological function of jin and ye fluids, pathogenic damp and phlegm and the organ systems that deal with them.
This book gives you a lot idea of understanding in oriental medicine. It bring to you real taste of classics especially huang di nei jing and nan jing.The majority books of oriental medicine in English don't give us real picture of oriental medicine, but the book does!! One thing I want to wish is when they using pin yin, should be accompained chinese character. Great book!!!!
This book is excellent. For the advanced student or practitioner, this book enlightens the reader on all aspects of Fluid, Jin-ye, Phlegm, Dampness, and their origins. It also discusses herbs in a very interesting and useful way, comparing and contrasting phlegm and damp herbs and their specifics. This is my favorite theory book on my shelf. |
 | | By: Gail L. Schumann, Cleora J. D'Arcy ISBN: 0890543429 Publisher: Amer Phytopathological Society Release Date: 30 June, 2006 Bioscience book rank: 135682
| The collaborative effort of plant pathology experts and academicians Gail Schuman (Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin) and Cleora D'Arcy (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Essential Plant Pathology is a thoroughly 'student friendly' introduction to plant diseases, their diagnoses, prevention, and treatment. After an informative preface explaining why the study of plant pathology is important and how to use both this introductory textbook and its accompanying CD-Rom, the first chapter provides and explanation of how plant diseases are diagnosed, the 'plant disease triangle', how to determine the cause of a specific disease, what 'biotrophs' and necrotrophs are, disease cycles and they can be utilized. Specific chapters then go on to address plant diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, nematodes, viruses, parasitic flowering plants, abiotic factors, pathogens, how people influence plant disease epidemics, the prevention or management of plant disease epidemics, and more. Enhanced with appendices on 'Disease Classics', 'Example Diseases', and 'Rapid Assays for Pathogens', along with 'Figure Credits' and a comprehensive Index, "Essential plant Pathology" is a core addition to academic library Agricultural Studies collections and an especially appropriate acquisition for community libraries for their patrons with an interest in gardening, landscaping, and general horticulture. |
