| I am a Medical Technologist who is retraining in the microbiology lab. This book has been a lifesaver for me. It's a concise and practical review. Just the right amount of information. It's fairly easy to read and includes many practical lab procedures as well as theory. <br>Also the information is up-to-date. I highly recommend this book to hospital/medical lab people.
This text puts all the information from the each chapter into concise, easy to follow flow charts and tables. At the end of each chapter are study questions, standard lab procedures, and descriptions of media used in the micro lab, what is in the media, and why it is in it. The specimen flow charts were very heplful. For each common specimens received in the lab, the flow chart will tell you step by step what to do to ID the organism based on Gram stain, biochemical reactions, colony morphology, etc. It was nice to have all that info in one place instead of having to turn back and forth through several chapters. Wonderful text for anyone starting out working in a micro lab. |

| The author of this textbook is actually Kathleen Park Talaro and it is Foundations in Microbiology 6th edition. I'm not certain as to why the author is listed as Arthur Talaro, even given the exact isbn number of 978-0-07-110229-2 |

| The audio cds are clear and easy to listen to. I thought that there would be more details about general microbiology. The audio cd's list the names of the viruses, bacteria,etc.. but no details about microbiology.
These CD's are realy worth the money. They review pretty much all the organisms you need to know for med school micro. I listened to them a couple of times and the amount of information I have retained is amazing. Get these CD's and listen to them in your car. |

| Know these Vignettes! Nothing more to say. They will be tested over. Period :)
This book is small enough to fit in your white coat pocket for those down times on the ward. It is much more concise than Microbiology Made Ridiculously Easy and a much better study tool for Step 1 and Step 2. Microbiology is one of those very important areas of medicine that comes up again and again, regardless of what field you decide to go into. Mastering it is key and you'll get a good grip on it with this book. Very useful.
Great review of all the high-yield bugs in case-based format. Really liked the book's style, presentation, and content. Also has good figures and answer explanations, which helped me understand several important concepts better. Definitely worth the money. |
