Human Anatomy & Physiology by: Elaine Nicpon Marieb publisher: Pearson Education, published: 2003-05 ISBN: 0805354638 sales rank: 48359 Review You can use it if you install the Netscape Navigator in your computer. It won't work with Internet Explorer or Mozilla.
I think this book is great. The text is very up-to-date and comprehensive. The CD that comes with the book really helps cement the major concepts of the text in your mind. If you are a visual learner, this book is for you.
This Anatomy book provides great figures and tables that are easy to comprehend, unlike many other similar books. Explanations are given to clarify any question that the student may have.
Hole's Human Anatomy and Physiology assumes no prior science knowledge and places emphasis on the fundamental concepts without overwhelming students with too much detail. The text supports main concepts with clinical applications, making them more relevant to students pursuing careers in the allied health field. The learning aids throughout the text, along with the reader-friendly writing style, create a highly-effective learning system for understanding the concepts of anatomy and physiology.
Review I used this for my A&P class and loved it. It was easy to read with wonderfully colored pictures. It was easy to understand. I also have another A&P book, compared to this one...this one is a bit easier and doesn't go into as much detail.
I ordered this text book through Amazon because the school book store was out. In my past experiences with Amazon, I have been able to receive the same product, faster and sometimes cheaper. In this case, all was true except the book store book came with a very necessary CD, the book with Amazon did not.
Take this as a prereq into nursing! This is a great course and a great texbook. It explains things well and in language you can understand. I very much enjoyed this course.
The new edition of this companion to Guyton & Hall?s Textbook of Medical Physiology, 11th Edition delivers the salient points from the parent text in a manner that is ideal for rapid comprehension of the core concepts in the discipline. Small enough to fit in your pocket, you?ll find concise, easy-to-reference physiology essentials wherever you are...whenever you need it most. * Follows the same organization and scope as the primary text to reinforce key principles. * Provides fast access to essential information through concisely written text. * Represents the ideal, portable source for easy-to-reference need-to-know concepts in physiology. * Covers all of the major systems in the human body while emphasizing system interaction, homeostasis, and pathophysiology.
Review I wish many other books with complex topics had a pocket companion comparable to this one. If the topic is important to your success, then having the pocket companion is indispensible. I see the pocket companion as the architect's view (high level design) of physiology and the first step to learning. Depending on interest and time, you can selectively drill down into the textbook to explain topics of greater importance to you. If a particular topic is not that important you can just read the companion. I have already swept through many chapters and when I hit a chapter I wanted to understand in more detail, such as sports physiology, I went off and read the entire textbook chapter. When other chapters have more detail then I need I stick with the companion.
Count yourself lucky to have this pocket companion as a first "cut" to the knowledge in the textbook, it will help immensely during the absorption and after for the quick and convenient recall.
I love this book, it's good for brief review any time I want to go over the little things that one forgets after school's over. It's much simpler in the bed than a huge hardcover textbook.
I have been using this book, along with the 'Big Daddy' version for preparation for my surgical primary exams. In summary, it's gold. No, it won't tell you everything that the big book does, and certainly not as much detail as thicker texts like Ganong, but I think that is the real benefit of it. ALL IT HAS IS THE BASIC FACTS, and that is all you need to grasp the concepts and therefore answer most questions. If you are looking for a high distinction on your exams, then take a month off work and read Ganong. If you have less than a week and are trying just to pass, then 'Baby Guyton' is gold. Five stars.
This innovative, best-selling book provides the most complete and accurate information about the structure and function of the respiratory system. The relevance to respiratory care practice clearly sets this resource apart, with clinical scenarios to challenge your application of principles and formulas as well as numerous illustrations of common pathological conditions such as cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, and asthma.
Review This is not a very expensive text book for it's category. All the same it is a well written book by a reputable author and staff. The book demands that you pay full attention to every word in it's text. I mean that the text is written in a concise manner by a professional for the novice. Attention to detail is of utmost importance when you are studying. A solid basic knowledge of first year anatomy and physiology is essential. It wouldn't hurt to have your A&P text beside you. The author assumes that the student knows the basics and does not go into basic discussions but builds on each topic. Understand that this is a challenging text book pulling together all facets of A&P with full emphasis on Respiratory Care.
I personally find this text book a pleasant challenge. Keep in mind that the ultimate goal here is to be capable of keeping someone breathing. After all if you can't breath nothing else matters!
This book is really helpful if you're just starting out in Respiratory Therapy, the illusrations are great. The book is easy to read and understand. Great reference book. There are charts and quick references you can either cut out of the book or photo copy and have as a handy pocket guide.
Vander's Human Physiology by: Eric P. Widmaier, Hershel Raff, Kevin T. Strang publisher: McGraw Hill Higher Education, published: 2007-11-01 ISBN: 0071283668 sales rank: 163926
Product Description
Eric Widmaier (Boston University), Hershel Raff (Medical College of Wisconsin), and Kevin Strang (University of Wisconsin) have taken on the challenge of maintaining the strengths and reputation of "Vander's Human Physiology: The Mechanisms of Body Function". Moving beyond the listing of mere facts, it stressed the causal chains of events that constitute the mechanisms of body function. The fundamental purpose of this textbook is to present the principles and facts of human physiology in a format that is suitable for undergraduates regardless of academic background or field of study. "Vander's Human Physiology, Eleventh Edition", carries on the tradition of clarity and accuracy, while refining and updating the content to meet the needs of today's instructors and students. The eleventh edition features a streamlined, clinically oriented focus to the study of human body systems. It has also responded to reviewer requests for more clinical applications. Chapter 19 is new and contains three complete case studies. Physiology Inquiries have also been added to many figures throughout the chapters. These critical-thinking questions are just one more opportunity to add to the student's learning experience.
Review the book was in great condition and mailed out quickly... great for customer service... highly recommend!!!
So far this is the best product i bought on Amazon.com. The book was new. I receive it on time and the seller was nice enough to give me the tracking number, so i didn't stress myself at all.
I got the book really fast and it was in great condition. I'm so glad I didn't pay full price for this in the campus bookstore!
Written by Eric Wise of Santa Barbara City College, this comprehensive manual contains 43 laboratory exercises that are integrated closely with the textbook. Each exercise demonstrates key anatomical and physiological facts and principles presented in Seeley's Principles of Anatomy and Physiology by directing students to investigate specific concepts in greater detail. An instructor?s manual for the laboratory manual is available online at www.mhhe.com/labcentral.
This atlas is intended to supplement the laboratory course for A&P. It illustrates the body structures as they actually exist so that students will be able to easily recognize the parts when they are dissecting or taking an exam. This particular manual has been a market leader, and this new edition will have the addition of incredible full-color photos throughout, and has many unique features.
Review It is in good condition but I wish the software would have came with this book.
This atlas is small but packed full of pictures and useful info on A&P. Easy to carry and worth the price to have such an easy to use reference. Sometimes I sell my books after I'm done with them, but not this one!
I had an intense exam on the bones and it helped me prepare for it. I actually passed the test with flying colors. The pictures were great and very detailed. I would recommend this book to anybody.
Now in its Third Edition, this text clearly and concisely presents the physiological principles that are essential to clinical medicine. Outstanding pedagogical features include problem-solving applications of basic principles; conceptual diagrams that help students visualize complex processes; case studies, Clinical Focus boxes, and From Bench to Bedside boxes; a comprehensive glossary; and online USMLE-style questions with answers and explanations. Now completely updated, this edition features new material, new features, and a robust online package to help students and instructors get the maximum impact from their course.
Review This book is probably good for some undergraduate courses, but if you are spending this much money or are in a higher up education, then you might as well get Boron's Medical Physiology. Boron has more detail, better pictures, and better writing. This book is not worth the money.
Excellent Text! I am very impressed. It made my first year of medical school a LOT easier.
