Review
The product is exactly as described and arrived well before the advised ETA. I am studying massage therapy and believe that this book will be an invaluable addition to my clinic library. A perfect reference source.

The textbook came in new condition and included "Clinical Connections", which was not mentioned in the description so I purchased it separately and now have to deal with the hassle of returning it. Also, my class required that I have "WileyPlus", which came with the textbook in our campus bookstore. I called Amazon to see if Wiley Plus was included, and they connected me to people at Wiley who assured me that the book did include WileyPlus. They were incorrect. The book came with a cd that allowed me to register the book on the Wiley Website, but that is different from WileyPlus - which costs about $75 from the WileyPlus website. So the great price I thought I was getting on the textbook was really not that great once I factored in the extra cost of purchasing WileyPlus. However, if you just need the textbook, Amazon does have one of the most competitive prices on it, and it comes in perfect shape. I would recommend the textbook to any student that needs it, and if you also need WileyPlus- get it off ebay and save half the cost of purchasing it directly through Wiley's website.

I was under the impression I was getting the cd-rom that came with the book (AS ADVERTISED) but didn't get it. And I didn't even get the registration code for WileyPlus. I chose expedited shipping and received the book after about a week. Is that expedited? When I did get the book, it was in new condition and that's what the 2 stars are for.

Great service, low price, and great quality. I recommend buying from this seller. The book is in more than excellent condition..I will not hesitate buying from this seller again. Keep up the good service.

Book received in very timely manner. Only thing is the description said with Cd-rom, but it didnt have one, which wasnt a big deal for me since I dont see myself using it.

I have no problem w/used books. But I wiped down as much as possible w/a clorox clean up. Just felt grimy and maybe had sticky dirty fingers when used last. otherwise, book was in good used condition.

I was very pleased to recieve my book and was very happy that Amazon had it available. I recieved my book in less time than anticipated which was good because I had already started class. Buying this book saved me quite a bit of money, because if I would have bought at the school bookstore it would have cost quite a bit more. Thank You Amazon Sincerly Lisa LR

Great seller. Book was in exact condition as described. No problems. Shipment was fast. Would definitely do business with again.

Review
This is by far my favorite med school text. It provides very clear and concise reviews of all the relevant physiology for each system, and provides numerous connections to pharm, histology, etc. as well as important clinical notes relating to specific points. I always start new subjects with this book and the rapid review histology - together these two provide a spectacular platform for learning the topic in depth. GET IT.

personally i think i preferred brs physio to this one, but if you like the bullet point format of RR, then this would be your pick. not a bad book at all

Honestly, this is the best book i've read in medical school. Clear, concise explanations of every important topic in physiology. I wish I would have had this during the course. I've read it twice so far, reviewing for Step 1 and physiology seems incredibly simple now, even though the text is very comprehensive. Numerous connections with pathology and pharmacology are included, which make for a very integrated approach. This is one subject I am no longer worried about for the USMLE. I can't believe most people haven't discovered this yet.

Product Description

Amphibians are the extant descendants of the first vertebrate class to successfully colonize terrestrial environments; hence they occupy a unique position between fish and reptiles. Amphibian skin provides essentially no resistance to evaporative water loss, and consequently daily water turnover rates are an order of magnitude greater than in other terrestrial vertebrate groups. This has led to a suite of physiological, morphological and behavioural adaptations that have allowed a successful terrestrial existence in spite of this apparently spendthrift water retention strategy.Ecological and Environmental Physiology of Amphibians provides a synthesis of current research on the comparative physiology of amphibians with a particular emphasis on water balance. It adopts a strong environmental perspective and includes a wealth of information on ecology, phylogeny and development. As with other books in the Ecological and Environmental Physiology Series, the emphasis in this book is on the unique physiological characteristics of the amphibians, although the latest experimental techniques and future research directions are also considered. This accessible text is suitable for both graduate students and researchers in the fields of amphibian comparative physiology and physiological ecology, including specialist courses in amphibian ecology. It will also be of value and use to the many professional herpetologists requiring a concise overview of the topic.

Review
A great study aid especially for those of us who have been out of school for a while. I have been reviewing the cards, since I am told that most of the students in Dental Assisting have to repeat the anatomy & physiology classes. I am trying to get ahead so this helps get a jump on it. The color cards are great and the detail on back is very helpful because without it I would be sitting and saying, "what?" This product goes great with NEtter's Anatomy Flash Cards.

AN EDIT, I WAS TOO HARSH AT FIRST. Here's the thing, there are things about the Netter's Anatomy and the Netter's Physiology Flash cards that make them hands down the best, but there are also a lot of problems. I own the Anatomy cards and just received the Physiology cards today. The Lymphatic System / Immunity not even touched. The Blood, not touched. The Anatomy and the Physiology cards are so hyper-detailed, that you can't get a plain look, they are very good and detailed for most of everything, but much left out in Physiology and organization of cards is terrible. Especially the Anatomy cards. Physiology cards much better organized, but to me, too much focus on obscure and not enough on what's important. Sure over-detailed can be great, but cards need to have a plain zoomed out view too. I'd love to have a card that showed sort of global view of things too. Show me the arteries of the whole arm, not just zoomed in. We're working on Lymphatic System now in class. System not even touched in cards. Same for blood, no cards to quiz me on agranular, granular, etc. So probably the best cards, especially for med students, but like I say in my original below, may be too much for nursing students and not focused on the right stuff. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW BEFORE MY EDIT ABOVE: The only way I'd buy the Netter's Physiology cards is if you own the Netter's Anatomy cards already. In theory, owning both the Netter's Anatomy and the Netter's Physiology Flash cards should be the most complete set over any other brand where they are combined. (Simply more cards total with both sets of Netter's cards.) Here's some of my complaints about the Netter's cards. Between the 2 sets, there is not a single card that I've found on "The Blood." Some of the Physiology cards need to be in the Anatomy set and vice versa. In the Netter Anatomy cards, there is not a single picture on the sections of brain. The only brain pic you get in the Netter Anatomy cards is for vessel anatomy. Vessel anatomy would have been better off in the Physiology set over the anatomy set, but the anatomy set should have brain lobe anatomy. Now there is a brain pic in the physiology cards under the Endocrine section, but that doesn't help if you're in A&P 1 and only bought the Netter's Anatomy cards. I was in A&P 1 last semester and the Physiology cards hadn't even been released yet. I just received my Physiology cards today and am in A&P 2 this semester. Another example, the ear Anatomy is in the physiology set, not the Anatomy set. I did special senses in A&P 1, I needed that last semester. In the Physiology set is a card on Neuromuscular Junction, again needed that in A&P 1, not 2. Reproduction System looks weak in the Physiology cards, I haven't looked hard though at that yet. If you still want to buy the Netter cards, you need both sets, because neither set is good enough alone. If you can't afford both, stay away from the Netter cards and look at the Kaplan Anatomy cards. (Friend of mine has Kaplan cards, so I've seen them) The Kaplan cards are organized by system and even though less total cards, I'd have to say more complete. The organization of the Netter cards is simply horrible. As a set, they are nice cards with some important stuff still missing (The Blood), but apart, I cannot suggest either alone. What the publisher needs to do is organize these cards in line with a book like Principles of Anatomy & Physiology by Gerard Tortora. I don't have a problem with a seperate set of cards, again in theory that's more cards and more complete than other combined sets that are out there like Kaplan, but also again, you need the 2 Netter's together because cards that should be in the Anatomy set that you need for 1st Semester of A&P aren't even there, you need the physiology set to get them.

Review
Makes A&P simple...doesn't cover A&P like a regular A&P text would, but a great for understanding if you don't have a science background, like I did. With an arts background my class A&P textbook was like Greek, so I need a book to help break it down. Pulled my grades.......waaaayyyyyyyy up after starting badly :)

I have taught from this book for one semester and like the other reviewer found many errors. This by far is not my favorite book! But its what the department decided on and gave me so I try and make the changes and explain the information that is incorrect. other than that it is not bad for a quick anatomy and phys course but dont expect to pass the medical boards using it!!! Having never taken the massage boards I do not know if this book is geared specifically to them but have a feeling it is. REW MD

I am considering using this book for the A&P at our massage school. I have read about half of it and find that it is clear and helpful. I am going to review all of the books in this series.

Hassle-free, no worries transaction. Book came in fantastic shape, and was so cheap! Thanks a bunch!

I took this for the pre-paramedic Anatomy and Physiology class, and then I went on to the full pre-nursing anatomy with lab and physiology with lab classes. This was an excellent book for whatever your goals may be. I went back to it much later, having learnt more about the topics, and was impressed by how succinct, accurate and relevant is the material. It's hard to pick what aspects need to be covered for the book's audience, and and the authors have done a commedable job of understanding their customers.
