| I would like to say that this is one of the best books that concerns the subject of mass transfer that I have read. It presents the theory of mass transfer in a way that is appealing to a mechanical engineer.
This book is a must for every student of mass transfer. |

| How does the West transfer risk during combat? How does this reflect developments in society? What key historical events led to the West to conduct warfare in this manner? What is the future of the Western use of force? If you are interested in a scholarly work tracing the development and transformation of Western War from the US-Vietnam Conflict to the Second Gulf War than this book is for you.

Dr Shaw, a Professor of International Relations and Politics at the University of Sussex (UK) is the latest scholar to look at a new Western way of arms-length warfare. Drawing from works such as 'Spectator-Sport War' by Colin McInnes, 'Virtual War' by Michael Ignatieff, and his own 'Post-Military Society,' Dr Shaw unites the observations of these scholars and more into a synthesized list of fifteen `Rules of Risk-Transfer War' in chapter four. He aptly applies his findings to case studies ranging from the Falklands-Malvinas and First Gulf War to the Afghanistan conflict and ultimately the Second Gulf War. But it is the Second Gulf War in Iraq where he demonstrates how this form of Risk-Transfer Warfare is in crisis.

Dr Shaw's work demonstrates a sharp erudition of the key literature. His insights are keen and striking. Sadly, he colours his work with a distinctly leftist tinge fashionable among contemporary academics especially those in Europe. This is manifest in the secondary sources lurking in the bibliography. He routinely takes shots at the United States and her President which is unbecoming of such a well distinguished scholar. However, his work delivers such a piercing and pointed argument against risk-transfer warfare that his 'ad hominem' attacks can be summarily dismissed. Dr Shaw's writing style is both rewarding and easy to read. I would suggest this work to students of strategy, security, international relations, and military arts and sciences.

| If you're already into transfering images to fabric, this book won't tell you much more than you already know. It's main focus is store bought heat transfer sheets. I wanted more. I also have "Fabric Photos" by Marjorie Croner, which is a far better book and goes into different ways to transfer using mending tape and fabric. It does have some good images in the back you can use, but I like my own better. Skip it, look for something with more detail.
As a graphic designer I was drawn to this title. I've always wanted to try my hand at some home furnishing projects but thought I would just make a mess with out the benefit of Edit > Undo on my Mac. Livia McRee took me step by step through my first project (Stone tile coasters p. 58) and I was amazed when they were done. Totally cool 50s clip art on coasters. I love it. SUPER BONUS: the book is filled with full color pages of great artwork like vintage luggage lables, indian folk art, and old time illustrations that you can xerox or scan for use in the projects. People won't believe you when you tell them you made this stuff!
When people say this stuff is easy, I think, "maybe for you"! But this book is. I also thought I would have to use chemicals or find a bunch of stuff to do the transfers, but all the techniques are safe and the products are easy to find. I really like the free artwork in the back, too; lots of interesting and funky stuff. |

| When I ordered this book, I was afraid that a lot of the designs would be from the "Celtic animals" and "Celtic Iron on Transfers". Fortunately, they're all unique. They are all larger than the the designs in the other books. |

| Transfer to a new PC without using passwords, preferences or even photos with this book/software packages which can help link an old PC's information directly to a new one. A free copy of the CA Desktop DNA Migrator is included along with instructions on transferring data and a Wizard interface which makes such instructions a snap. From migrating data to backing up files, troubleshooting, and handling a network system, SIMPLE COMPUTER TRANSFER AND BACKUP is a manual no computer user should be without. |

| I had the plesure of using this book while an undergrad at UCLA taking both the transport class and an intermediate heat transfer class with Professor Mills. He, like his text, were thorough and to the point. I never found myself lost in his book due to his excellent explanations on difficult subject matter. Don't expect this subject to be easy - it's anything but that. However, this book does an excellent job of treating many complicated physical systems as well as can be expected.
This was the book used when I took heat transfer. I found it to be a good supplement to the lectures and do still refer to it. I wish Mills spent more time on using numerical analysis.
Like Any text book it has to be opened and read to be useful

| I like the book and the projects give you a nice jumping off point. The instructions are clear and seem pretty easy to do. However, I was looking for something with more transfer techniques then just the use of lazertran papers. Of the 16 projects in the book only 2 were methods other then lazertran transfers.

I'm not unhappy with the book, but I think if I had looked at it in the bookstore I would have passed it up.
Makes transferring unintimidating. I don't understand why one reviewer thought this was not a "how-to" book, as directions make it very easy to follow and succeed. Tells you what you need to start, how to set up and how to do it on various surfaces. Book is laid out with list of materials needed, set up and how-to for each surface. Neat ideas to spur your imagination. Very helpful book for those wanting to transfer on fabric, less helpful for those wanting to transfer on ceramic, however, it still has value for teaching the process and leading you down new roads.
While I would agree with the other review that called this book a fun ideas book, I appreciate a book that gets down to it right away. I primarily like this book because it's features many projects with Lazertran transfer paper, as well as 6 or so other methods. A great book if you're looking for an introduction to tranfer techniques. |
